Skydiving over the Swiss Alps in Interlaken

Skydiving over the Swiss Alps in Interlaken made it into my favourite travel moments of 2018. I always knew I would skydive one day and I could not think of a more picturesque place than Switzerland to take the plunge.

The fear of falling lasted less than a second, the adrenaline took over and I was smiling ear to ear.

How to get to Skydive Interlaken

I flew into Basel to begin my trip. This isn’t the closest airport to Interlaken but there are always cheap return flights from London. It was a scenic 1.5-hour drive from Basel to Interlaken. I highly recommend making a stop at Bern on the way.

The expression says it all 😛

What to prepare before Skydiving over the Swiss Alps

The crazy thing about skydiving is that there is almost nothing you need to prepare in advance. Other than making the booking, you just need to arrive at the office on time or wait to be picked up from your accommodation. You put a jumpsuit on over your clothes so it doesn’t matter what you wear (I went with comfy trainers, leggings, and a t-shirt).

Absolutely loved the parachute part – very calm and the views were insane.

How to book with Skydive Interlaken

I booked with Skydive Interlaken. You can reserve a spot in advance online or contact them via WhatsApp. In summer they sell out so I would recommend booking as soon as you can. If it’s too windy or rainy on the day you’ve reserved you will get a full refund or the option to book the following day.

Helicopter Skydive Interlaken: CHF 450

HD Movie on USB Stick, edited with music and slow motion: CHF 200

What did skydiving over the Swiss Alps feel like?

Absolutely incredible. I would do it again in a heartbeat. On arrival at the office, you are given a briefing on how to exit the plane (this is all repeated again in the helicopter). It is very simple – feet on the ledge, put your head back and then keep your legs bent when falling. There are 45 seconds of free fall then approximately 10-15 minutes of paragliding.

Overall,

If you haven’t skydived before, the Swiss Alps will be your ultimate bucket list moment. For experienced divers, it’s hard to top the beauty of the Swiss Alps. Huge shout out to the instructors at Skydive Interlaken for making my skydive unforgettable!
